By car
From Amsterdam:
From the ring road (A10), follow the A7/A8 motorway towards Alkmaar.
At the Zaandam intersection, continue on the A7 motorway towards Leeuwarden/Purmerend. Leave the motorway at the exit Zaandijk/Zaanse Schans. At the end of the exit, turn left under the motorway. Follow the road for about 2.5 km: you will pass the Zaanse Schans on your right. Continue over the bridge, and then at the traffic lights and windmill turn left. After about 500 meters you will see a large, odd-shaped monkey bread tree on your left. The neighbouring wooden house painted is Lagendijk 52-54.
From Purmerend:
At the Zaandam intersection take the motorway towards Alkmaar / Beverwijk (A8), and leave the motorway at the exit Zaandijk / Koog aan de Zaan. Thereafter: see above.
From Alkmaar:
Leave the A9 motorway at the exit Amsterdam / Zaanstad. Drive along the trunk road towards Zaanstad, and remain on this road. You will drive through Krommenie and then Wormerveer. You will then see a Zaandijk sign. Turn left at the traffic lights next to the level crossing (on to the Guisweg, in the direction of the Zaanse Schans ): at the next traffic lights (in front of the bridge) turn right. After about 500 meters you will see a large, odd-shaped monkey bread tree on your left. The neighbouring wooden house painted is Lagendijk 52-54.
Important: a number of navigation systems based on the TomTom will bring you to an identical address in the adjacent village of Zaandijk. This is not our B & B: you will not be greeted by us, but by the now somewhat irritated residents.
By public transport
Take a Sprinter train from Amsterdam Centraal central railway station to Alkmaar or Uitgeest. Get off the train at Zaandijk Zaanse Schans station, the fourth station from Amsterdam CS and the third from Amsterdam-Sloterdijk station. On the platform, go down the stairs or take the elevator and follow the signs to ‘Centrum’ (Centre) and ‘Zaanse Schans’. At the end of the Stationsstraat, cross the side road and turn right (not left!). Continue on this road until you see a large, odd-shaped monkey bread tree on your left. The neighbouring wooden house painted is Lagendijk 52-54.
